Propel fosters experimentation, and artistic interchange, creating a platform for research, practice, and performance; linking artists in capital cities with Hunter artists.

    EXPERIMENTATION & CREATIVE RISK-TAKING

    PROPEL provides crucial infrastructure including: studio-time, wages, mentoring,
    administration, marketing, and production support. At the conclusion
    of each residency, showings and performances, incorporating artist talks, helps build audience capacity for innovative, multi-disciplinary dance practice.

    Propel curates established national & international choreographers to collaborate with Newcastle’s professional dance and multidisciplinary artists, providing time and space, to experiment across art-forms.

    PROPEL produces contemporary dance works which arepresented locally, nationally and internationally.

    PROPEL has generated support from partners, locally, nationally and internationally including: Newcastle Art Gallery, Newcastle Civic Theatre, The Lock-Up, Museum & Art: Lake Macquarie, Force Majeure, Critical Path, Ausdance NSW, Form Dance Projects, ilDance (Sweden), Dance-Base (Scotland), Hong Kong International Choreography Festival and Independent Choreographers Association of Israel.
